Scout Network is open to young people from the age of 18 up to your 25th birthday and is run by the members of the section rather than being run by leaders. The County is split into a number of smaller hubs and each hub has a Network Co-ordinator/Network Leader. We also have a County team who are there to help and advise on Network and how it is run.
Generally all the members of the hub meet together to decide what activities they want to do and many of the hubs have elected a chairperson to run these meetings. Some meet a couple of times a month, others less frequently. It depends on the members and their own commitments but this is the point of the Scout Network: you can do as much or as little as you want to fit in around you.
We currently have seven Network hubs in Buckinghamshire: Cerberus (Aylesbury), Chimera (Great Missenden), Endurance (Chalfont and Amersham), Firestorm (High Wycombe), Network:MK (Milton Keynes), Red Squirrels (Chesham and Amersham) and Dionysus (Woodlands) . As a member of the Scout Network you are free to go along to whichever Network you like. You are also welcome to join in with activities that any of the hubs are organising; you don't just have to attend your hub's meetings.
We hold several county Network forums over the course of the year which gives members a chance to get together to talk about how the Network operates, problems they may have and to discuss what joint activities Network members would like to see in the future for all the hubs to participate in. These joint activities are also a chance for Explorer Scouts or anyone else that may be interested to come along and meet the Network, and find out more about it and what it can offer.
Want to know more? Either contact County Office on 0845 094 5526 or email bucks.scouts@btconnect.com, who will pass on your details or alternatively you can contact the Network hub that is nearest to you directly via the links on this page. They will be more than happy to talk to you about Network, their hub and the meetings and activities they have arranged.
We hope to see you involved in the Scout Network soon...
